Frequently Asked Questions

After we receive your completed application, we send all applicable applications to your doctor(s) to review and confirm the prescription. This part alone can take up to 4 weeks. You can speed up this process by sending us all of your information, and then calling your doctor or nurse to let them know that when they receive the info packet from us all they need to do is verify the medication, dosage and frequency and then sign on the highlighted area and mail in the stamped and self-addressed envelope. You can expect to start receiving your medications in approximately 30-60 days after your application is accepted at our office.
Patient Assistance Programs are provided by various drug manufacturers and provide medications at no cost to qualifying individuals.
Over 180 pharmaceutical companies offer brand-name medications at no cost through patient assistance programs. But each program has their own complicated forms and processes. Patients who try to navigate these programs on their own are often denied assistance with their medications, because they did not correctly complete the multiple steps required.
For $20 per month for each medication, our patient advocates take the burden off of patients and their doctors, handling all the details for each medication every month on each patient's behalf to:

  • Ensure that refills are ordered and shipped
  • Keep forms and records up to date
  • Ensure the drug companies have everything they need to keep sending medications to patients
  • Avoid denials--and handle appeals processes in the event of a denial

Because of our hands-on, personalized involvement, eligible patients are more likely to receive the brand-name medications prescribed by their doctors.

Although the medication is provided free of charge from the pharmaceutical companies, there is a lot of work that goes into making sure all of the paperwork is filled out correctly to receive the medication. The modest fee is to cover these efforts. We take care of all of the follow up and the appeal process when necessary. We are your advocates.
Our highly-trained patient advocates help patients get access to as many of their prescribed brand-name medications as possible.
There are over 1,500 FDA approved brand-name medications on our list. Because the exact program requirements are different for each pharmaceutical company--and sometimes for each medication-- it is possible that patients may not meet the requirements for every one of their medications.
There is no limit to the number of medications patients can receive. If you do not see your medication listed, please call us at 1-888-962-0422 to see if it is available as medications are added frequently.
If you're taking a generic medication, we may be able to get the brand-name equivalent.
If we cannot help with a specific medication, we may recommend that a patient speak with their doctor to see if there is an available brand-name substitute.
In most cases a three-month supply is sent each time your prescription is filled. Medications can be sent to your home or your Doctor's office. It is also possible that you will receive a pharmacy card that you can take to your local pharmacy to obtain your medication. In almost all cases, we will request that your medication be shipped directly to your home, although the specific manufacturer of the medication will determine where the medications will be shipped to.
No. We take care of all of the paperwork after your first order.
Our program works for both although with generics your price may vary depending on the prescription.
There is differing of opinions on the exact reasons that Pharmaceutical Companies are giving away so many free prescription medications. Some say that they do it because of their ongoing commitment to public health and because they really do care about low-income families. Others, noting the excruciating guidelines to participate and that the programs are typically not advertised, argue it is more of a political move on the part of these companies. Regardless of why, the fact is that they do give away free prescription medications and many people can benefit. And now, with the help of LONE STAR SCRIPT CARE, the processes have been made easy for the average patient.
Most companies have a 1 year enrollment period and send out a three-month supply of medication at a time.

Yes. Many of our patients come to us who are on Medicare and have a Part D plan, however they are unable to afford their copays or find themselves in coverage gap of their prescription plan, commonly referred to as the "Donut Hole".
We have a hard working Refill Team and their main concern is the seamless shipment of our members medications. If there are any issues with a Lone Star Script Care member's refill, they are notified by our Refill Team immediately. Our Refill Team will work with the patient, their prescriber and the pharmaceutical companies to remedy any issues so there is no disruption to the patient's shipment of medications.
What really sets us above our competitors is that we have proprietary software that enables us to stay a step ahead so that you do not have a lapse in receiving your medication. The cost of having to purchase just one month's prescription is usually more than we charge for our service for an entire year. We can help you save a lot of MONEY.
Each patient is required to complete a short Enrollment Form to enroll with Lone Star Script Care.
If the patient is receiving Social Security, we also request they submit a Social Security statement with their Enrollment Form.
Once enrolled, we ask for Proof of Income information from each patient every year to ensure they continue to receive their brand-name medications.
From time to time, we may ask patients to contact their doctor if we are having trouble getting information (like original, signed prescriptions). We may also ask patients to contact Social Security or other agencies to get information that we cannot get on their behalf.
Lone Star Script Care takes care of everything else to ensure patients receive an ongoing supply of medication.
Generally a person must meet certain income requirements and have little or no prescription drug coverage to qualify for acceptance into a prescription assistance program.
Each pharmaceutical company is different. You will usually receive a three month supply of pills, but some medication is provided every month and other medications are supplied every six months. All this information is in our data base and set up so that you don't need to remember when each medication needs to be reordered.
Patients can typically expect to get 90 days' worth of medication delivered to their home or doctor's office within 4 to 6 weeks of enrolling. Medication delivery destination is subject to each individual pharmaceutical company per their guidelines.
Once a patient receives their first shipment of medication, our advocates will continue to manage the ongoing refill process like clockwork to prevent gaps in medication delivery. Before the patient's annual enrollment date, we start gathering and resubmitting all paperwork needed to continue medication delivery into the next year.
After you give us the initial paperwork, all you need to do is give us a call to tell us what medication you have received and when you will start taking it. We do all of the reorders.
No, we are a service company and do not guarantee any type of benefits.
The medications are supplied directly from the drug manufacturer and normally at least a 90 day supply is given.
Continue with your medication as normal until the first shipment arrives from the pharmaceutical company. LONE STAR SCRIPT CARE never dispenses medication or approves an application, we cannot guarantee the time of shipment of your order.
In order to send medication directly to a patient, the drug company must be appropriately licensed with the federal government. Because many drug manufacturers are NOT properly licensed to dispense medication in this way, they must send the medications to a doctor's office that can legally dispense them to you.
This program is intended for all Americans who have been prescribed medications they simply cannot afford.
No! We can help you with as many prescribed medicines that are available in our formulary.
